Boekverslag: The Moon Is Down
This story happens in Norway, when the Germans are conquering Norway.
The Germans come in the city, that had been quiet for so long that they had forgotten the protocol of war. When the Germans came rushing in, nobody was prepared for it.
They needed the city for its big mine, from which they mined cole.
The Germans were keeping the whole village in a grip of fear, because if you did anything to them, you were facing the firing squad, and you were killed.
The villagers do resist themselves, but that doesn't help, but one time airplanes came over and dropped dynamite, and the children of the village collected them and gave them to their parents, who blew them up in houses and the railway to the docks, but the Germans dit not surrender.
When and where:
The story takes place in a village in Norway, during the war.
The mayor: The mayor of this town is used by the Germans, he is the one the villagers trust, so he has to do some speeches to tell the people what to do, if the Germans would have said it, the villagers
wouln't have done it.
Colonel Lanser: The leader of the Germans, he is the brain behind much of the things that happen.
Major Hunter: He was an engineer, and worked under the supervision of Colonel Lanser.
The major problem for the villagers was the war, and the major problem for the Germans was, that no one would listen to them unless they used violence, that is why they let the mayor do the speeches.
Sort of environment:
The story takes place in the war, in a former peaceful village, but when the Germans came, the environment changes to very hostile.
The title explains the state the village is in, the moon is down, there is no hope when the Germans are still there.
The whole book is a sad part, there are no good parts.
This story could have happened, cause it is very realistic, with the Germans
