It was a normal night when at midnight suddenly a man arrived. This man was Albus Dumbledore. A great Wizard. At the doorstep of privet drive 4 he left a baby named Harry Potter. The Boy who lived. Harry Potter was the only human been who survived the curse of the most powerful dark wizard for centuries. But when Harry survived his parents where killed and that?s why Dumbledore brought him to privet drive 4. Here lived his last living relatives. Eleven years Harry lived with them, teased and hit by his cousin Dudley. And His uncle and aunt Mr. And Mrs. Dursley act like he wasn?t there. Because they know that there was something strange about Harry and they didn?t want anybody to know, they were proud of being normal. Harry thought he was normal.. He thought?
But then when he was just turned eleven a letter came:

After a lot of trouble Harry finally read the letter and Rubeus Hagrid, the keeper of keys and grounds at Hogwarts took him to Hogwarts. A school of Witchcraft and Wizardy. There he founds out he isn?t that normal as he thought? He was very special. He was famous because he was the boy who lived. Everybody recognised him because of his scar. The only thing that shows the attack of voldemort, the greatest dark sorcerer in time. What makes Harry extra special is that with his survive Voldemort felt. But the wizards all over the world were still afraid of voldemort and don?t dare to say his name. Voldemort is known as You-know-who. Only Dumbledore, hogwarts headmaster isn?t afraid. Dumbledore is the only person who voldemort feared. There are four houses at Hogwarts: Gryffendor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuf and Slytherin. Harry is selected in Gryffendor together with Ron Weasely and Hermoine Granger. Those became Harry?s first friends ever! Because when he was living with the Dursleys Dudley made sure that no one liked Harry and if they did Dudley kicked their asses. Dudley was the biggest bully of the school so nobody tried to make contact with Harry. Harry loves his live at Hogwarts but then he, Ron and Hermoine found out that there is something strange going on: It seems that the Philosopher?s stone is kept on Hogwarts! And somebody is trying to steal it! Together they find their way to the stone and try to protect it. When Harry finally reaches the stone it seems that a teacher of Hogwarts, Professor Quirrell is enchanted by the spirit of Voldemort and is stealing the stone to bring Voldemort alive. Harry fights him and almost died. But he kept Quirrell away from the stone and Dumbledore arrives just in time to save Harry. Harry is nearly killed, but he is feeling better when Dumbledore tells him the good news: Quirrell is dead and Voldemort fled away for a while. Enough reason for a feast. I really liked this book. It is very lone in its kind, there is no story like this. It is full of jokes. I think that comparisons with Dahl are justified. The author brings you a original, complex and demanding story that you just can not stop reading.
Joanne Rowling bekend geworden door haar boeken over leerling-tovenaar Harry Potter. Deze boeken schrijft ze onder de naam J. K. Rowling, waarin de K staat voor de naam van haar grootmoeder Kathleen. In werkelijkheid heeft Rowling echter geen tweede naam.Rowling studeerde Frans en Klassieke Cultuur aan de universiteit van Exeter, waar ze in 1986 afstudeerde. Vervolgens had ze diverse kantoorbanen. In 1990 vertrok ze naar Portugal om Engels te onderwijzen. In Portugal ontmoette ze de TV-journalist Jorgue Arantes met wie ze trouwde. In 1993 werd haar eerste dochter Jessica geboren. Het huwelijk strandde en Rowling en haar dochter gingen in Edinburgh (Schotland) wonen. Ze schreef daar twee boeken voor volwassenen, die ze echter niet goed genoeg vond om naar een uitgever te sturen. In 1990 kwam ze tijdens een treinreis op een verhaal over een jonge tovenaar. Ze werkte de verhaallijnen uit tot een plot voor een zevendelige boekserie. Nadat het eerste deel door enkele uitgevers was afgewezen, werd het uiteindelijk in 1997 uitgegeven door uitgeverij Bloomsbury. Haar agent Christopher Little verkocht het boek later aan de Amerikaanse uitgeverij Scholastic, hetgeen Rowling ongeveer €100.000 opleverde.
