Boekverslag: Dracula
Summary:
Jonathan goes to Transalvania to meet Count Dracula. Dracula lives in a castle. When Jonathan was in the Count's castle, he only saw the Count after 12 o'clock in the evening. And if he was awake before 12 o'clock in the morning, he always said that he had already eaten. But that wasn't true, because he lived off blood. There were a lot of mysterious things in the castle. When Jonathan knew that Dracula was a vampire, he tried to escape, and it worked out, and he returned to London. When he came in London, Lucy was very sick. The Count was already in London, and he made a victim. He had bitten Lucy. Dr. Seward couldn't find her illness, so he let Van Helsing come to look after Lucy. Dr. van Helsing recognized the symptoms, and he tried everything to save Lucy but it didn't work. Lucy turned into a vampire. The only way that can save her is to kill Dracula. They killed Lucy's vampire, and everybody started haunting Count Dracula. They put a wooden stick through his heart and he died. Lucy wasn't a vampire anymore; she was the normal Lucy. Nobody could ever be a vampire
Conflict:
The conflict in this book is the vampire against the normal people. The vampire (Count Dracula) has to drink blood, because otherwise he'll die. He bites the people who aren't vampires and drinks their blood and he'll be alive. When a normal person is bitten by a vampire, he could become a vampire himself
Character Development:
Jonathan is the main character of the story. In the beginning of the story, Jonathan is very shy and boring. He was afraid of some people, and basically trusted everybody. In the Count's castle were a lot of doors locked. He wasn't curious at all and he didn't try to get in the locked rooms. Later Jonathan became suspicious, because there happened very strange things. He didn't trust everyone anymore, because he was in danger. When he met Mina, and married with her, he wasn't shy anymore. Jonathan became confident of himself.
My opinion:
I like this book very much. It's a very exciting, sometimes scary book. It was a shame that I could predict the end of the story. It was not so difficult to read, but sometimes there were difficult words in the story. I would like to read another book like this. Everyone should read this book, because it's really a very good book. Normally I don't like to read about blood and vampires, but I really liked this book. There was one thing I didn't like in this story. It was very exciting at the end, but in the beginning it was a little bit boring. Some parts of the book are told very long-winded, and that was boring. That?s a pity. But after all it was a funny book to read
