Summary:
After seeing a film about Nazis the kids in Ross? class couldn?t believe why people didn?t do anything against the Nazis. Ross thought what to do about it and in a way the students could learn something about it. He introduced the Wave. By introducing the Wave he tried to give his students a sampling, a taste of what live in Nazi Germany might have been like.
After this day changed a lot in Gordon High. The Wave had his own salute and ideas. Soon the Wave became a dangerous and mindless movement. And Laury was the only one who recognised the danger in it. She tried to convince some of her friends but no one believed her, according to them, the Wave was good, everybody who was in the Wave was equal and there were no more competitions against each other. Even Robert had never been teased anymore.
It was getting out of hands, it was no longer a game or an experiment. Students were getting obsess by the Wave. Somebody had to do something about it before it goes to far.
After a fight with Laury David discovered that the Wave was a bad thing. They visit Ross to tell him to break up the Wave. Ross had already a plan. He didn't told it Laury and David because the plan could only work when nobody knew something about it. Next day was a special rally. By a sneaking, but good list he learnt the following of the Wave a lesson. It was no good to continue the Wave, it was getting out of hand and it was time to stop it.
Opinion:
Most of the time when I read a book is it that I have to read the first chapter twice to understand it. I did do that by this book, not to understand anything but to discover some things. Often when I have finished reading a book, I have forgot the first part. So, when I was done with reading I read chapter one again and I discovered just little things, like: Oh, she was it who was sitting in the library.
This time I had, happily, a book which was ease to read through. It was a very complaisant story. The students were of my age, that is nice. I really can't imagine how it would be when something like the Wave happened in our school. But in spite of this, it was to imagine how it was in that school which is described in the book.
The construction of the story was good. First I was getting involved by the principal characters, then slowly the Wave growth and then a happy ending of course; the (bad) Wave couldn't exist anymore.
After all this good talk I slate the book a little, perhaps it is all a little unrealistic. In reality there is always somebody who sees it coming, if it would really happened it would be stopped sooner than in the book.
