Boekverslag: Stone cold
At one day Ginger says that he's going to some friends and that he will be back tomorrow. But Link never sees him again. He looked everywhere and asks a lot of people but he doesn't find him. Then Link meets a girl who says that she's homeless too. Link think's she's very pretty. The girl calles herself Gail. They become friends. At onde day they're talking with other homeless people they hear that the last month several homless people suddenly dissapear. Somebody saw that they go with a man at the railway station and after that they never get back. Link and Gail decide to find that man.
After sitting days in the station they finally see a man who's asking a homeless man to come with him. They follow him to his house. For days they watch the house, but nothing happens. It seems to be a normal man. But at one day when Link is watching the man's house by his own, he comes out of the house. He's calling his cat and he sees Link. Link pretends that he's just standing there. The man invites Link to his house. Link accpets the invitation and goes with the man. After he gets a cup of coffee the man suddenly pushes Link into a room where he sees seven dead bodies lying on the floor. He can't recognise them but he do recognise one man's clothes: Ginger's. The man tries to kill him too but at that moment the police comes in. Gail had warned them.
Now Link discovers that Gail isn't homeless at all. She is a journalist who wanted to write a story about homless people. But she didn't know anything from the murdrer. Link isn't very angry at her because she saved his life.
Geboren in Bradford, hij was de eerste van vijf kinderen. De Swindells werkte voor de lokale krant en verliet op zijn vijftiende scchool.Zijn eerste boek, When Darkness Comes (1973), schreef hij toen hij nog in dienst was. Swindells combineerde combined schrijven en lesgeven tot 1980 toen werd hij full-time schrijver.
