The Germans come in the city, that had been quiet for so long that they had forgotten the protocol of war. When the Germans came rushing in, nobody was prepared for it.
They needed the city for its big mine, from which they mined cole.
The Germans were keeping the whole village in a grip of fear, because if you did anything to them, you were facing the firing squad, and you were killed.
The villagers do resist themselves, but that doesn't help, but one time airplanes came over and dropped dynamite, and the children of the village collected them and gave them to their parents, who blew them up in houses and the railway to the docks, but the Germans dit not surrender.

Major Hunter: He was an engineer, and worked under the supervision of Colonel Lanser.
Major problem:
The major problem for the villagers was the war, and the major problem for the Germans was, that no one would listen to them unless they used violence, that is why they let the mayor do the speeches.
Sort of environment:
The story takes place in the war, in a former peaceful village, but when the Germans came, the environment changes to very hostile.

Zijn werk The Grapes of Wrath (De druiven der gramschap) vertelt het verhaal van de Joads, een arme familie uit de Amerikaanse staat Oklahoma tijdens de "Dust Bowl", en hun reis naar en hun problemen in de staat Californië.
